Professional Development for Teachers - Summer 2017

Five Full Days - July 17-21, 2017 at Lyndon State College. Register for First Steps in Music TM with Betsy Greene OR Technology for Teaching and Learning in ALL Music Classrooms: Summer Institute 2017. Select one course for the week with workshop hours only or 3 graduate credits through Castleton University.  Meals and Housing for an additional $229. Visit here for more information.

Live Performances Coming Up

Opus 32 logo

Opus 32 for strings, woodwinds, and piano will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Elley-Long Music Center at St. Michael's College. Rehearsals begin at noon, Free concert at 6:30 pm. Family friendly! More info...

Opus 2  - a local event. New compositions created by students in grades 5-12 from Main Street Middle School and Montpeleir High School during a residency program with composer Erik Nielsen. Erik's residency is supported in part by a grant from the Vermont Arts Council. This live performance is at 7 pm, February 16th at Montpelier High School Auditorium. Hilary Goldblatt has organized professional musicians and high school string students to perform these works.

Jacob Dennison, a senior at Lake Region UHS, has written a new work for the VSO for their annual David M. Wilson Farmers' Night concert. Join us at the State House, Montpelier on Wed., Jan. 18th at 7:30 pm. 

Student composers wrote new works in a summer workshop with Erik Nielsen, Senior Composer Mentor. NThirdPiano 300x178They'll hear these compositions performed by Northern Third Piano Quartet at Wake Robin on January 12, 2017. Featured students are: Kassiani Austin, Jacob Dennison, Davis Holt, Graham Jansen, Andrew Kim, Jasmin Townsend-Ng, and Emily Sinnott.

Opus 2 at Montpelier High School on February 16th. Featuring new works by string students in grades 5-12.
