Alone, But Not Lonely

Composer Name: Benjamin Pellizzari
My piece is called "Alone, But Not Lonely.: It is written for piano and vocalist in 5/4 time. It has the dynamic marking of "pp" and should be played lightly like a feather falling in the swift breeze. However the dynamic mark changes to mp during some parts of the piece to emphasize the theme "not lonely." The pp dynamic will represent the theme "alone"

Dear Benjamin,
Thanks for posting the first version of your piece for voice and piano and welcome to Music-COMP and the world of online composition. I will be your primary mentor for this piece. I think the piano part so far is very evocative and sets an atmosphere in keeping with the title. That's a good start.
There's not much to comment on, but I have two quick suggestions.
1. Change the left hand (that is, lower) piano staff to treble clef and put the lowest two notes of each chord in the left hand. That will make it easier to read for the pianist.
2. This piece is in G minor. If you put 2 flats in the key signature and change all the # notes to their flat equivalent (e.g., A# to Bb) the music will look much more the way it sounds.
Benjamin, as I wrote above, this is a strong start. If you can take care of the two little issues I've raised, you can move forward with your piece. Please let me know if you have questions. I look forward to seeing your first revision.

Best wishes,
Erik Nielsen
