Hello Quinn,

Thank you for posting the beginning of your piece. You are off to a good start. I like the back and forth between the trumpets and trombones as well as the energetic mood you've created.

First off, the order of instruments from top to bottom should be trumpets, trombone, percussion and piano at the bottom.

Next, I think the trombone will have trouble playing those fast sixteenth notes clearly at this tempo. I would consider assigning those notes to the piano or to a second percussionist on a melodic instrument such as glockenspiel or xylophone.

Where do you see this piece going from here? I could imagine a contrasting sustained legato idea for a middle section perhaps coming back to this driving theme at the end. You might also consider having a legato melody in one of the brass instruments layered ontop of the driving eighth notes.

Keep up the good work!

Mike Close
