Stay in the Present - Opus 32

871 userid
Stay in the Present in the key of G is a flute and piano duet. It was originally called "Cotton Candy Kitten Clouds". I chose Stay I the Present because I wanted people to stop and listen to my song instead of thinking about something in the future. People should be mesmerized by my piece and pulled into the moment of listening. It is a jumpy, high pitched song that makes me happy. It is a song for the start of Spring.

Hi Zinny!
You're so welcome! Great work on your piece this term, it's very strong! Sorry you weren't chosen for live performance at Opus but I REALLY hope you'll write another piece next year!
Take care and be well!

Hi Evan,

Thank you so much for your help with my piece! I really couldn't have done it without your help. I am so grateful that you listened to my questions and answered them. The opportunity to work with you and work on Noteflight was amazing! I loved having you be there to listen to me. Thank you again!

Thank you so so so much!

Good choice on section order. The ending could be a bit more final - perhaps a whole note rather than 4 quarters?
Good work on the C section too. Deadline for submission is tomorrow.
Best,
Evan

Hi,

I thought about the order of my sections and I decided on A, B, C, B, A.

Thanks!

Hi Eric,

I'm working on my piece right now and I just realized that my B section has 9 measures and the A section has 8 measures. Should I delete a measure from the B section?

Thanks,
Zinny

Just a reminder the deadline for submitting your piece is Thursday at midnight. If you try to complete your piece early in the week then I can give some more feedback before submitting.

Hi Zinny,
Great, I look forward to hearing more. Are you going to put some flute in the B section as well? I think it could really use it. Measure 18 sounds like the start of a C section to me. I would extend that a little bit then you'll have three sections and we can talk about a form (order of sections), which sections you want to have return, etc.
Keep going!!
Best,
Evan

Dear Evan,

I figured out the melody for section B and changed some of the chords in section B. I am hoping to finish it up soon.

Best,
Zinny

Dear Evan,

I thought about doing your idea and I decided not to do it. I like my piece the way it is in that way. Thank you though!

Thanks,
Zinny
